“A two-year old is kind of like having a blender, but you don't have a top for it.”

I have been slacking. We had had quite the week, but we are all getting sorted out, so I am back!
Chase is his usual self... happy most of the time. He really wants to be able to move, and rolling is the only way he can do it so far. I am thinking he will get the scooting/crawling thing down earlier that I would expect. He just wants to play with the big kids.
Then there is Reese. My post title couldn't be any more perfect for her. She is just a bowl full of energy and new tricks. Here she is covering her ears, but usually it's her eyes/face she will cover in order to ignore us. If we yell at her for something, she immediately covers her face or look away and not make eye contact with us. She's also been biting lately. She doesn't do this all the time- just occasionally to her cousins. I guess she just doesn't know how to express her anger sometimes. (Hopefully a little hot sauce will stop this move). Reese is always telling us how much she loves us, she is always ready to whine when she doesn't get what she wants, she always wants to dress herself, she uses the potty like a champ (no more pull-ups at night!), she loves to cuddle, she LOVES for daddy to spin her in circles and throw her up in the air playing "popcorn"... She is our bundle of love.
Finger painting time at the Staniak "daycare." Surprisingly we didn't get too mess. That crayola washable finger paint is great. Go get some if you are brave! They all loved it (even Noah who hates to get messy).
Tomorrow is Jonathan's birthday (Happy Birthday a day early)! Jonathan and Jen hosted a great party which included a wine tasting.
... and the winner is... that's right, folks... the Staniak's won! Who would have guessed. Ryan has been talking about this wine for months after just one bottle... and now it's proven to be great.
Oh yes, and what we wouldn't do to add to our new budget. There was a bet on the table that someone couldn't eat 4 Oreo balls at once. I tried putting two in my mouth and couldn't do it, so Ryan took the challenge and sent us home with and extra $20.00!
Look at Jen's belly grow. So cute.

Tooth #3

That's right people... Chase has a 3rd tooth. A tooth on the top. Not a middle tooth but one to the side. (Just like Reese did) So in no time he will look like he has fangs. Really... our kids just grow so fast.

All the Single Ladies

We had some visits with friends the past few days. All the little babies we played with are ladies... all within a year of Chase... he's going to have some fun growing up!
Here is Chase and Ellison. Erin and Elle came to play with us yesterday. Here is Abigail, Ava, and Reese. I think at this moment, Reese was getting ready to go sit practically on Abigail's lap. She is such our little Elf. She doesn't realize how big she is!
We hit up the Elk Grove pool this weekend with the Holtz family. Here is Drew and Lila.
Ava, Kristine, and Reese. (Reese loved the water... Ava preferred being outside the pool.)

Here is the main man. All the Single Ladies love this guy!

Tooth #2

If you look closely, you may be able to see tooth 1 and tooth 2. Our little baby boy has two teeth. He also rolled from his stomach to his back today. He hasn't mastered it, but I am sure he will have it down soon... then we are in trouble. He is trying to move already!

As for eating, he eats: 6am milk, 10:30am milk, food at 12:00, 3:00 milk, 5:00 food, 7:30 milk. We are still breastfeeding... no biting yet, so that is good. I think we will hopefully make it to 8 months (hey, it saves money and it's good for him- oh, and it burns calories)!

As for sleeping, we are working on a daytime routine, but it's not happening just yet. He will fall asleep holding a little blanket and listening to some sounds in his crib, but it only lasts about an hour! We get a few naps in the day. Night time is like 8pm-6am... sometimes earlier and sometimes he wakes up at night, but if I give him the pacifier he will go back to sleep.

So, that is Chase these days!

Tumbling!

Reese started her first tumbling class on Saturday. She did great! She impressed me with her balance beam skills but could use some work at jumping with two feet. When the teacher called her name and she had to go get a stamp, she went without any hesitation, while many kids were scared. I wasn't sure if she would do it, but she did! She now has to listen to the instructions better and we will be set!
Daddy and Chase joined us and took a few pictures.
Chase trying to stay warm.
Reese trying to jump... it's more like skipping.
Reese trying to swing on the bar. She is so tall! I had to help her bend her knees so that her feet didn't touch the ground.

Reese on the beam.

Potato Heads

Ryan had the kids on Friday, and as we can all see here, they had a great time! Daddy daycare is always so much fun.
Noah and the block piano.
Avery and Reese - great buddies and potato heads!

Avery looking quite stylish.
This picture of Reese just cracks me up!
Chase wants in on the fun.
Chase is fitting in quite perfectly these days. Avery is teaching him the ropes and Noah wants to play with his buddy as often as possible.

SPLISH SPLASH

Bath time is much more fun in the Staniak house. Reese and Chase can take a bath together. I do have to keep a hand on Chase so that he doesn't fall over, but he does pretty good... and he does a good job of splashing. I think he is going to enjoy the pool this summer.

"6:00"

So, yesterday Reese got up at like 4:30am until 6:00am and then went back to sleep from 6:00-8:30. Well it came to be nap time and after an hour of her not going to bed, I said, "Reese, you can come down, but you will go to bed at 6:00." Sure enough, she fell asleep on the couch at 6:15 and slept the night away.

Now for today. It was just nap time. She was "reading" books and not going to bed. I went upstairs, she had to go potty, and then I lay her back down. All of a sudden she says, "6 o'clock, 6 o'clock..."

She remembered yesterday- that she got to come down if she went to bed at 6:00?? These kids are way too smart!

Two Love Bugs

My little Love Bugs. Reese will tell me she is my Love Bug. It's that cutest thing ever.

Look at these friends. At just 5 months old they are playing together. Life is only going to get easier as they have each other to entertain! Chase is sitting up like a champ, and still loves to roll from his back to his belly. He hasn't yet figured out how to go back though. He is still eating some "mommy milk" 5 times a day. He eats a fruit, veggie, or cereal once per day. He sleeps mainly from 8-6, though he has had some difficult nights sporadically throught the last couple of weeks. He is happy sleeping next to me if he isn't happy in his bed.

Reese is still in her tremendous 2 stage... or maybe crazy 2... or maybe just the standard terrible 2. She talks so much, but she is just sassy. She isn't afraid to say "no" so she spends some quality time in time out. It's a phase... this too shall pass.

5 Months and a tooth!

Chase is 5 months and got his first tooth today!!! What a big boy. He is sitting up on his own like a champ now and sleeping like a pro. He still just rolls from his back to his belly. He's such a happy boy and a joy to have around. (Pics to come!)

New Years Eve 2008- Happy 2009!

So, let's be honest... no one really wants to babysit on New Years Eve. If you are lucky, you may find someone to do it, but for most of us, we had the kids, so we had to work with it. There were 14 of us adults, and 7 kids. There were moments of complete loudness, but the kids all went to bed (besides James, but he was great ringing in the New Year). Kristine's dad supplied us with party poppers, so we really brought in the New Year. The food, the drinks, the white elephant grab bag (hilarious), and the company were all wonderful. Here is to a 2009 filled with more great memories and fun times!
We are lucky enough to have fantastic neighbors. Beth and Rob and Abigail celebrated with us!
Jonathan and Jen. It's almost time to find out... I am excited!
Mark and Drew. Mark... you go back to work tomorrow. The question is... will you shave?!
Bryan and Kay got a little practice in with Reese. (Oh, and Chase too). Their little girl will be here before know it!
Here he is! Little Bucholzs James (as Reese likes to call him). What a cutie.
4 of the 7 girls are pregnant... March, April, June, August. What a fun year ahead. Lots more babies for next New Years.
Not all the ladies were with child... Stephanie, Kristine, and I made sure we had enough for all the ladies!
Party like a rockstar!
Chase, Noah, Lila and Reese. Chase and Lila are just 4 days apart. Kristine and I are planning their wedding.
Thanks to everyone for coming and bring food and drinks and making it a great night. Happy New Year!
