It's a World of Laughter, a World of Tears...

It's a world of hopes, and a world of fears. There's so much that we share, that it's time we're aware, It's a small world after all! It's getting closer! Nine days left until we go to Disney World. I am sure I am more excited than any of the kids, but they are getting there. We worked on this fun count down this week. Reese is loving to pull down the Mickey's, so it's getting more real! It will be an exhausting and fun filled trip!

Anyway, as we sit around and try and fill in the hours until our adventure, we are having fun. We celebrated Jonathan's 28th Birthday this weekend, did some playing, visiting, and shopping. As I continue to say... we look forward to the warm weather so there are a lot more things we can do.
Look at poor little Reese, bored. :) I swear she looks 8 and not 3. She is just growing and learning at a rapid pace. Chase and Nate about to dump the toys. This happens about 73 times every day. It was cute to see them playing together.
Avery taking Chase for a ride around the kitchen.

Costumes are so cool!
Sheriff Connelly. There is a map that came with this costume. The kids loved using it to find "treasure."

Good-bye January! Bring on a warmer February! :)

Dip, Dance, and Dreaming

Chase is making a silly face. Just enjoying some waffles, whipped cream and raisins. Chase loves "dip." It can be anything ranch, ketchup, whipped cream... anything. He loves food and always seems to be hungry, but he doesn't often sit still. He still throws some awesome tantrums when he doesn't get what he wants, but you ignore him and it seems to end really fast. He really is a funny kid. He's vocabulary is growing and he always know what he wants and what we are talking about. He's a smart little cookie.
Chase wanted in on the Sunday morning ads. Good thing we were done looking at them.
Reese and that smile. She was having a blast playing "pass the little man" with Daddy today. They just stole some invisible little man from each other for an hour and thought it was the funniest thing ever. We rented Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and will be checking that out before bedtime tonight. It doesn't have a princess in it, so we will see if she gets into it or not. Reese had a little trouble staying in bed this week for naps and lost her swimsuits, shorts, tank tops, skirts, and dresses. She is slowly earning them back. For some kids, you can take away toys... for Reese, it's clothes. She's an odd duck! :)
Reese is signed up for her first ballet class. It doesn't start for a couple weeks and only lasts about 5 weeks, but we will see how it goes and if she likes it. I was going to sign her up for a soccer class (and selfishly, I wanted to put her in that first), but we knew she would enjoy the dancing so we are starting there. I also go to preschool sign up tomorrow evening. I believe she will be going 4 days a week for 2.5 hours a day starting in the fall. I think she is ready!
We hit up the pool yesterday with the Connelly's (hopefully Sabrina will post some pictures, she got some good ones)... we visited the pet store and toy store today... did some grocery shopping... cleaning... playing... it was a nice and relaxing weekend which was nice after Ryan travelled to Louisville and New Orleans during the last two weeks.
One last note: I can't wait for spring! I think I have said this already, but now that I have kids, the cold is really starting to get more annoying. They want to go outside, and I want to take them. I want to go for walks to the park and just enjoy some nice fresh air. We have been to the mall one thousand times, the library, target... all the "fun" places for entertainment during the winter, but we have had enough! Maybe we need to move south! Soon... I know, soon it will be warmer, but I just can't wait!

Happy 30th!

This is a big year for all of us 1980 babies! To start it off, my cousin, Megan turned 30 on January 13th. We were lucky enough to celebrate with her since she came here from Colorado for the big day. We had a get together at the Staniak house with pizza, cake, lots of Jager shots for Megan, play time with the kids, and to finish off the night...some Quelf and Pictionary Man. It was nice spending time with Megan since we don't get to see her often enough.
Happy Birthday, Megan! I hope it was a good one!

A Day in the Life...

The last couple days have been eventful... dress-up, play doh, coloring, baking, toys, playing animals, playing witches, Scooby Do, Tommy & Jerry, games... you name it, we have done it. Here are some highlights.
Reese as a cowgirl. "According to the map, we should go... that way!"
Reese as a doctor!
Nate pumped to watch the Disney trip video from 2008. He may not have been there, but he knows it looks fun and can't wait to go.
The kids watching, dancing to, and screaming in excitement to the Disney video. They were so pumped. Look at the thrill. I can't wait to take them.
Look at those faces!
Avery the doc. Reese the cowgirl.
Dr. Connelly fixing Sheriff Staniak's boo boo from falling off her horse.
"I will take care of you!"
Chase loves play doh and really wants to eat it.

So happy that mom took out the play doh.
Now, let's all hope for good naps today!

Nothing Interesting.

I got nothing. Ha. I don't think I ever posted this picture and thought it was cute, so I am putting it up now. Nothing too exciting is going on. We are just hanging out and keeping it low key. Reese and Chase are doing good, challenging us every day, but still being lovable. Ryan and I are having fun trying to stay warm and keep them busy. The blog world seems kind of slow lately, so I thought I would put something new up. I am home with the kids tomorrow, so my goal is to get some good pictures for your entertainment... and to keep for some good memories.

Have a happy day.

Ringing in the New Year

For the past few years we have had a New Years party at our house. We always enjoy the friends and family that come over, but this year, we were just beat. We had so many holiday parties that I never got around to planning/cleaning/organizing a fun night. So, at the last minute, we invited over the Connelly's and my mom, got some lobster tails, pasta, and other goodies, and rang in the New Year. We got all the kids to bed and the adults got to play some games and share some beverages and just relax. We had a big sleepover with some pancakes in the morning. It was low key and a lot of fun. Maybe next year I can go back to my big New Years Bash!

The kids highlight of the night was fondue with strawberries and bananas. They were in heaven. Gotta love Avery's goatee.
"Mmmmmm... This stuff is Good!"
Sabrina and Mark enjoying some lobster and other good food.
This picture makes me laugh. Grandma got a shot in her eye in the morning and her eyes were quite sore. Here is Grandma and her girls - apparently none of them can see at the moment.
Happy New Year everyone! We look forward to a healthy, fun, and super year!

The Current List of Highlights

  • She has created this fake laugh, and when she gets going on it, it makes you crack up. It’s so darn funny. I heard her in her room before her nap doing it. Hilarious.
  • She still loves to wear dresses, skirts and short sleeved shirts. She talks about how in the summer she can wear skirts with no ballet pants and sandals and even tank tops. Summer can’t come soon enough for this girl. In every book or movie, she will ask why a girl doesn’t have on tights or ballet pants (aka leggings), and I have to tell her it’s summer time.
  • She sings so much and she dances all the time. She asks me to put on music so she can dance. I really need to sign her up for a dance class!
  • She loves to help me put on make-up and wants to pretend she is putting some on every day.
  • She is playing more and more with Chase.
  • She loves movies. Sometimes she isn’t interested, but if it’s something she really likes, she will watch for an hour. (Scooby Doo, Word World, Mickey Mouse, Annie, Toy Story, Enchanted…)
  • Reese and Chase were playing with Ryan. Chase was climbing all over Ryan, and Reese tilted her head to the side, looked at Chase and said, "Chase, Daddy is not a Jungle Gym!"
  • Reese got her second haircut. The put in some layers and she thought she was so cool.
  • She still thinks she is little and doesn't realize she is as big and strong as she is. She wants to be picked up, but is learning she is too big.

Chase (17 months)

  • Over the last few weeks, he has really turned a corner with his speaking. He will repeat most words and knows so many of them himself. Some of his favorites include: Ouchie, Vacuum, Mommy-O, Daddy-O (yes, he is calling us this now, thanks to his big sister), juice, baby, gaff (giraffe), dog, nose, eyes, hair, baff (bath), bankie (blankie), Dave, Mark, (he says these two as clear as day), Noah, Nate, Avey (Avery), Jack, Eese (Reese), Cheese… It’s nice to hear him trying words now. It almost seems now that he gets more frustrated when he can’t say something since he knows he can communicate that way.
  • At bedtime, if he doesn’t give someone a kiss, he will say their name and then make a smooching sound so we remember to bring him over to kiss Mommy or Daddy goodnight.
  • Chase got his two bottom fangs over the past 2 weeks. He is now working on the top two... then I think we are good with teeth around here for quite a while.
  • Chase climbs on everything, and falls a lot. I think he needs to live in a bubble for a little bit.
  • He knows the word "Chewies" and stands by the pantry door asking for them. (Thanks, Reese.)
  • Chase has had 3 hair cuts by his Daddy.
  • Next on the to do list... take away the pacifier and then move to the big boy bed...
  • I want to try and potty train him this summer. I am sure I am dreaming, but we will give it a good try. He tells me sometimes when he is stinky and after Reese goes potty, he sometimes asks for "Poppy," so I put him on there, he sits for 3 seconds, and then he flushes and he thinks he is cool.
